The relation between art and science is the trade mark of the science of motion. During this year’s International Conference, Chazot and Jean Luc are going to be very much involved through live performances, weather permitting, or videos. One of the talk , “
Here are a few illustrations of the talk, “There is a Better Way.”

The Truth is Etched in the Bones: Tracking the Pathological Effects of Chronic Tension and Compression
Changes in the bones tell the story of the mechanical forces that impacted them in life, specifically tension and compression. We are studying pathological specimens and building a variety of dynamic models to simulate the alterations in body posture and movement that induce chronic degenerative lesions. For the 2019 SOM International Conference we will be correlating function with its effects on form and the development of disease in both the horse and rider by illustrating how chronically held postures affect body tensegrity and often result in skeletal remodeling and degenerative lesions. Specific case examples, in particular of osteoarthritis in the neck, which is a serious problem in humans and horses will be modeled and analyzed. Discussion will be interactive and focused on correlating our case findings and attendees’ observations with Jean Luc’s extensive experience training horses and riders.
